Pop quiz: Would you kill people for money? If it were in a context that was neither criminal nor as a policeman or soldier . . . don’t worry about wether such a context exists, it’s not that kind of question. Assume the money is a “german shitload” or some similar large amount. . . .”enough,” so to speak

  1. I couldn’t do it unconditionally.  If it was someone who deserved to die, yes, I could. If it was some random person, no.  I have lost people close to me due to war, due to accidents or tragedy.  I couldn’t, in good conscience, make anyone feel the way I did when I suffered those losses.  If I ever reached the point where I could do it, then I certainly hope someone would put me out of my misery. 🙂

  2. if i didn’t know the person, if i was guaranteed never to know the person, if the person is somehow made inhuman (a mask, covered up in some way and unable to speak)…if i was somehow sure that i would never think of this person as a person, and i would not feel accountable, then i think my answer would be yes.  yes, i know i could kill them.  anyone in that sort of situation could. i think that’s the whole idea behind the milgram experiment way back in the day.  it’s disturbing what we’re capable of.
