A soldier named Kieren Kennedy comes home to South Boston today. In a box. He was buried with full military honors, with the Boston Police Pipe and Drum Corps playing Amazing Grace in the background. It pains me whenever I hear of a soldier dying. This one was special, though. See, Kieren was a blackhawk pilot. The very, very thing I was slated to enlist for six years ago. He died doing my job, and part of me doubts very much that he did so that I might make a tremendous fuckup of myself in the intervening half a decade. I think about the war a lot, mostly along a single access: My desire to go and do my job versus my total and complete distaste for the policy of our leaders. I think about my Grandfather Lynn, my stepmother’s father, who I know only through pictures. I wonder what he was thinking about Hitler when he kissed his cross, thinking of his wife and daughters, climbing into that fighter to fly for the Fatherland. Right now, I’m trying to get my body in line with the requirments of combat flight. I have a few things to fix about myself before I can even make the choice…
Yep… “there but for the grace of God go I…”
If you find something that works, let me in on it. I’d like to do the same. Well, body fixing anyways, I’m too old for the rest.
Really makes you think.
Well, eventually we’re supposed to get a free membership for the Athletic club at work. If not, want to get a gym membership with me?
Wow. Nice.
No, Cap – I’m not. . . and that guy probably was…that’s the whole problem.
new xanga review. thought you might like to know.
you used “then” when it should have been “than”.
also, i see no scientific evidence backing up your claims. i see only a baseless opinion to shield oneself from emotional harm. hell i’m joking anyway.
sweet dreams.
in case i misunderstood your meaning (which is more than possible) my apologies. but you can understand why i would place myself on the defensive for a while after something like that. anyway, take it easy.
Ham poisoning? ROTFL! You and your pork obsessions. lol.
It is a hard decision… to go enlist in the armed forces..wether you like it or not.. once enlisted… you become a cog in the system that enforces our foreign policy..If your distaste of the political leaders who make that policy is great enough and if you cannot see yourself dying or killing to enforce those policies..why join? Let some other poor soul who has no moral qualms about such complications go in your place… the time to measure your moral and political will is before you commit to the armed forces.. a great deal of your will is no longer yours once inside the machine…
I personally would not join at this time due to my opposition to how the Government and it’s leaders are going about enforcing thier policies overseas..but then again I am a huge conspiracy freak and have no trust in the government in general..but if you do join.. I wish you well and pray you stay out of harms way =)
Yeah, but I have no qualms about the dying and killing part, so I think it would be decent of me to take the place of someone with qualms about that, but no qualms about the government…so do you think it was the driver?
Gang life is very rewarding. I always got my dawgs watchin my back and I never gots to worry bout no shit goin down. It’s coo.
