Every so often, one of my posts just shows up like the one belwo. I have no idea why.

I went and watched Pirates of the Carribbean last night. I realized something, watching it: Johnny Depp is a really good actor. He brought off a character that was little more then a quick personallity sketch with a swagger I don’t think anybody else could have done. He was cool in this movie.

The movie istself was pretty cool. It was grim and dark, with just enough humor to keep it from being a horror piece without being silly.  It’s truly a Disney fantasy movie for a slightly older audience, which is pretty cool.  I have to give a special nod to the sword-fighting scenes – the are well, well directed, cut from a few yards away so you can actually see everything the people are doing, and it looks like Legolas’ training for Lord of the Rings paid off – he and Depp appeard to do quite alot of their own fencing, and fewer stuntmen = less sharp cuts in a fightscene. So, bottom line, good moive. Had pirates, as promised.

  1. Pirates of The Caribbean gets two Forked Hands of Satan up.  And I’ve thought Johnny Depp was a terriffic actor since Edward Scissorhands.  And Fear and Loathing.  And damn near everything else he’s been in.  Um, except for Benny and Joon.  Er, and the movies of his that I haven’t seen.  He could very well suck in those.

  2. Face it, you’ve been infatuated with the Depster since 21 Jumpstreet, ya giant slut.  Er, I’m talking to DirtyVicar.  Did I tell you nutjob says he wants to see that movie because of Orlando Bloom?  Yeah.  TMI.

  3. Ah, whateveah.  DirtyVicar is actually Nutjob without the dress and tangerine stuffed bra.  You can see it in the eyes.  And croctal region.

i still havent seen the movie but would really like to. I find it hard to believe that johnny depp is 40…and i liked him in benny and joon!

sure as you said its a great movie, although it makes you think disney must be running out of ideas, seeing as how theyre basing movies off of rides in disneyworld…but it doesnt really matter as long as theyre good movies. Disney making a grim and dark movie, though? Crazy…
